Badra Gunba stressed that the people of Abkhazia will gratefully remember the events of August 2008 and the decision of the Russian Federation to recognize the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia, which became fateful for the Abkhazian state.

The President noted the personal support of Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, his consistent position towards Abkhazia and the contribution of the Russian leadership to making the long-standing dream of many generations of the people of Abkhazia about their own independent state a reality.

Today, President of the Republic of Abkhazia Badra Gunba also expressed gratitude to Dmitry Anatolyevich Medvedev, noting his support for Abkhazia and stressing that the people of Abkhazia gratefully remember the historic decision taken by the leadership of the Russian Federation in August 2008 to recognize the independence of the Republic of Abkhazia.

Badra Gunba stressed that this date is a symbol of the realization of the long-term dream of the people of Abkhazia about their own independent state. Over the past years, Abkhazia has been given the opportunity to develop peacefully as an independent State, strengthen its statehood and further develop relations with the Russian Federation.
