President Gunba noted the achievements of Leningrad Oblast, highlighting its dynamic development and strong economic performance, which place it among the leading regions of the Russian Federation.

The President emphasized that the development of industry and the agro-industrial sector is a key priority for Abkhazia. In this regard, he noted the republic’s interest in studying and applying the experience of Leningrad Oblast. According to Badra Gunba, it is important to move beyond the exchange of ideas and focus on practical cooperation and the implementation of concrete projects.

President Gunba underlined the mutual commitment of both sides to systematic cooperation and stated that Abkhazia is prepared to draw on the experience of Leningrad Oblast in introducing modern technologies in the agro-industrial sector and expanding its tax base.

The Head of State noted that bilateral cooperation has gained significant momentum thanks to the personal involvement and support of Governor Drozdenko.

As an example of the growing friendship between the two sides, President Gunba referred to the holiday programme organized last year for Abkhaz children in Leningrad Oblast. He emphasized that such contacts between younger generations demonstrate a shared commitment to building long-term and sustainable cooperation.

The President also expressed special gratitude to Alexander Drozdenko for his efforts to preserve historical memory, particularly for the recent unveiling of a monument to Himtsa Tarba, a native of Abkhazia who, together with his fellow soldiers, defended their common homeland during the Great Patriotic War.

Badra Gunba stressed that respect for history, regardless of nationality or religious affiliation, sends an important message of unity and shared responsibility for the future.

For his part, Alexander Drozdenko announced the beginning of work on a roadmap for the implementation of the Agreement, noting that cooperation with Abkhaz colleagues is being carried out on a regular basis.

The Governor paid particular attention to the development of sister-city and sister-district partnerships. Discussions focused on establishing twinning relations between Priozersky District and Tkuarchal District, as well as between the cities of Sosnovy Bor and New Athos.

Alexander Drozdenko reaffirmed his readiness to further strengthen cooperation, proposing to combine the region’s expertise in industrial investment, port infrastructure management, and agro-industrial development with the opportunities available in Abkhazia. In particular, the parties discussed support for Abkhaz specialists in the development of poultry farming and dairy production, sectors in which Leningrad Oblast is among the national leaders.
